Because of your involvement in product development, you have been selected to participate in the biennial GGI Product Development Metrics Survey. The 2000 Survey focuses on product development portfolio management and measurement. Survey results will be initially presented at the 5th Annual Management Roundtable Metrics Conference entitled "Portfolio Metrics: Linking Product Development to Corporate Profitability," which will be held at the Chicago Westin River North on November 1-3, 2000.

We invite you to complete and return the attached survey questionnaire. For your effort, we will send you a comprehensive Executive Summary of the results when all questionnaires have been processed and analyzed. We expect that you will receive your copy of the survey results in November 2000. The survey findings will help you to better understand your organization's product development practices in contrast to industry practices.

The survey consists of twenty-eight questions. It covers five of the hottest and most relevant topic areas in industry being discussed by R&D and product development professionals: R&D Linkages To Corporate Strategy, Portfolio Management Metrics, Product Selection Metrics, Product Success Metrics and R&D Metrics Used In Industry. The majority of the survey can be completed off the "top of your head." A small amount of fact finding or fact checking may be necessary. Most of our beta testers completed the questionnaire in about one hour. The information you provide us with will be kept confidential. GGI will make no subsequent reference to you or your organization, and will not share any information that would allow others to make such a reference.
