T53 - "Realizing Innovative Designs: The Enabling Processes & Tools" [2005 Paper]
The 2005 International Forum on DFMA Conference Proceedings, Boothroyd-Dewhurst, Inc., Warwick, Rhode Island, USA
June 21, 2005 -- [10 pages]
This paper provides details on the processes to select and manage products and intellectual property, and which key tools help generate innovation and inventions as part of those processes. Selected graphical results from GGI’s primary research, the 2004 Product Development Metrics Survey, are included. The evolution of the product selection process over the past twenty years to the current state is analyzed and detailed. Six “power tools” that can help generate innovation and intellectual property are identified. Research results on the current state of the intellectual property management process and the tools to support it are presented.
